Mary Malloy

Mary Malloy, 26, from Cumberland, Rhode Island was crowned Miss Rhode Island USA 2023 on May 28th at the beautiful Veterans Memorial Auditorium (The Vets) in Providence. Mary competed against 45 inspiring and accomplished young women from all across the state of Rhode Island; at the conclusion, her dream came true as the crown was placed on her head.  She is the former Miss Rhode Island Teen USA 2015 and looks forward to representing her beautiful state at the national Miss USA pageant.

Mary is a graduate from Emerson College, where she studied Broadcast Journalism and Business. Mary is a Program Manager at Amazon Web Services, where she writes a weekly internal newsletter for an audience of 68,000 people. In her free time Mary volunteers with the Best Buddies and the Crisis Textline. Mary loves writing, she wrote and published a children’s coloring book titled “Millie’s Many Emotions.” She is also a freelance entertainment journalist, her work has been featured in The Hollywood Reporter. Her dream is to be an Entertainment Correspondent.

During her reign, Mary hopes to share free resources to help Rhode Islanders better their mental health. Mary is a volunteer Crisis Counselor for a suicide hotline and is passionate about fighting the stigma that surround seeking help. Pageants have been Mary’s favorite hobby for the past ten years, she would love to return to future Miss Rhode Island USA pageants to coach the contestants on how to navigate stress with the tools that she uses as Crisis Counselor.  She also plans on partnering with the Rhode Island Best Buddies to raise funds for their local chapters. Mary began volunteering with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities in 2012, still to this day she is an active volunteer with the Best Buddies.

This year’s pageant experience was even more special for Mary.  She competed alongside her sister in the Miss Rhode Island USA pageant and her cousin competed in the Miss Rhode Island Teen USA pageant held at the same time. Each week they would all get together at a local dance studio to practice their walks and host mock interviews. Competing with her family is a memory Mary will cherish forever.

Mary is honored to once again have the privilege of representing the state of Rhode Island at a national pageant, this time, Miss USA 2023! Please follow Mary’s journey as she uses her voice and actions to make a difference.
